NEW BREMBO CCM-R DISC®
INTRODUCED AT 2011 SEMA SHOWTargeted for Special Editions and
OE Accessories
LAS VEGAS, Nevada, Nov. 1, 2011 – Brembo, the world leader and acknowledged innovator of high-performance brake technology for the automotive industry, chose the 2011 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas to launch the Brembo CCM-R® disc for special editions and OE accessories as well as the high-performance aftermarket.
First introduced last year for the racing market, the new carbon-ceramic Brembo CCM-R® disc is a product of many years of experience accumulated by Brembo in the field of carbon brake materials used in F1, combined with the expertise acquired by the company in CCM applications for road use. The new CCM-R® will be marketed to high-performance enthusiasts and specialty tuners.
The main advantages of the new Brembo CCM-R® disc are:
– high thermal conductivity and maximum braking power, typical of an F1 carbon disc;
– durability and versatility, the key features of carbon ceramic material for road use.
This new CCM-R® will take its place alongside the existing CCM disc as a component intended for extreme applications, and is a product designed for use in conjunction with traditional organic or ceramic friction materials. The new Brembo CCM-R® disc is designed to show its true colors in endurance applications, and wherever there is the need to disperse appreciable amounts of energy, while delivering exceptional durability and unfaltering performance. Selected materials and original processes, researched and optimized to produce the Brembo CCM-R® disc, reflect the state of the art in technologies applied to carbon ceramic discs and have led to the creation of a product with superior engineering features.
In addition, the experience acquired in making carbon discs for F1, combined with use of the most innovative computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling techniques, has led to the definition of a venting system for the Brembo CCM-R®that ensures operating temperature will be controlled with maximum efficiency, under any dynamic condition.
BREMBO LAUNCHES GT-R HIGH PERFORMANCE BRAKING SYSTEM
NORTHVILLE, Mich. Oct. 7, 2009 – The knowledge accumulated through years of experience in engineering brakes for race cars has led the Brembo High Performance Division to launch the exclusive FT-R line. It has been developed to fit a select number of street applications including but not limited to Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Chevrolet’s Corvette and new Camaro applications.
The GT-R system has been designed for the driver who demands exceptional performance on the street and on the track. It includes 4 or 6-piston monobloc calipers, two-piece floating brake rotors, a selection of friction materials and all the necessary hardware to insure seamless installation.
The GT-R calipers machined entirely from billet provide both the benefirts and look of a racing brake system: more stiffness, lighter weight (GT-R calipers achieve a weight reduction up to 10 percent compared to cast versions) and more thermo-mechanical resistance, critical in high-performance applications. The two-piece floating rotors reduce unsprung weight and dissipate heat faster.
The nickel-plated finish provides additional treatment against corrosion and ensures a more attractive look. The pistons, complete with stainless steel inserts, provide an additional heat barrier virtually eliminating fade even during max-limit and on-track driving. In additon, the calipers provide less brake fluid absorption and a stiffer pedal feel delivering consistent clamping force suited for drivers wanting to make the most of every second.
The new Brembo GT-R brake systems are available either with drilled or slotted rotors.
The GT-R system will be sold exclusively through Brembo’s distributor Race Technologies, based in Costa Mesa, Calif.
